Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA), in partnership with Plant Health Australia (PHA) have developed The Biosecurity Manual for the Nursery Production Industry.
The manual has been designed to assist nursery producers and the industry from the introduction of new and invasive pests by offering them six simple routine biosecurity practices. Practices such as using only clean, pest-free and certified production nursery inputs, practicing good sanitation, frequently monitoring crops and reporting anything unusual to the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881 make good business sense by reducing the risk of biosecurity threats.
These practices also support various on-farm programs developed by NGIA such as the Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA), EcoHort and BioSecure HACCP, which ensure good farm hygiene at all times.
The Biosecurity Manual for the Nursery Production Industry is a valuable resource that highlights practical on-farm biosecurity measures growers can incorporate into their day-to-day operations.
The manual is written in a simple and informative format to engage with growers to ensure they are equipped with a solid understanding of how to protect their property from the entry and spread of pests.
