Your Levy at Work > Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL)
Overview
| Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) is a national research, development and marketing organisation for the horticulture industry. It assists industry to grow and sell its products more profitably by investing in programs that create commercial opportunities for Australian horticulture producers and their value chain partners. |
Our Link With Nursery & Garden Industry
HAL's role is to work with each horticultural industry to determine and evaluate its R&D and marketing requirements, then prepare annual programs and coordinate the investment of levy, Federal Government and other funds on appropriate projects. HAL also plays a key role in facilitating linkages within and between horticultural industries and agencies.
To enable the Nursery & Garden Industry to be an equal partner in this process, HAL has set up an Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) that consists of representatives nominated by the NGIA.
The prime role of the IAC is to provide direction and advice to HAL on the most appropriate use of funds to ensure maximum industry benefit. More specifically, the IAC:
- Advises on the direction of industry marketing and R&D plans.
- Ensures HAL programs are in line with industry priorities.
- Assists in communicating the outcomes of the marketing and R&D programs to industry.
- Provides a channel for industry feedback on the programs.
The IAC is lead by of an independent chair and members are selected to ensure representation of the growing, retailing and allied trade sectors of the industry as well as a national focus. Its membership provides a broad range of expertise encompassing marketing, research and industry development.
The Chief Executive Officer and the Industry Development Manager of NGIA are non-voting members of the IAC. The HAL Nursery & Garden Industry Liaison and Program Manager are also non-voting members.
