Growing the industry

Nursery & Garden Industry Awards

The Industry Awards are a levy funded project and provide an opportunity for businesses and individuals to gain nationwide recognition within industry and the wider community. Entering the awards is an indication of your commitment to be the best. There are great benefits to winning, and by entering you undertake a journey of critical analysis for which you will receive valuable feedback.

The Awards are open to all companies regardless of size that grow or sell plants, or provide products and services that assist businesses involved in the growing and selling of plants.

For garden centres and production nurseries the onsite judge's feedback gives an objective insight into where your opportunities for improvement lie. This expert feedback is an invaluable perspective which will lead to improved business performance.

I can’t speak more highly of my experience in winning the 2011 National Young Leader award. It has created exposure beyond the industry, I was pleasantly surprised to be featured on the front page of the careers section of the Daily Telegraph and within the Inner West Courier. It has led to a deeper understanding of the industry and provided opportunities to actively contribute on a number of occasions. The award is also about continuing development evident by a number of training workshops organized by the NGIA to the benefit of all national young leader entrants. I would encourage all employers to consider this award, just nominating someone is a powerful way to reward them and show recognition for their great work (even if they don’t win) and will bring positive publicity to any business.

What can I say, entering the NGIA Awards has helped transform our business from an average nursery into one of the best in Australia. It makes you really look at your business to see where improvements can be made. It gives you the opportunity to motivate your staff because they want to be winners too. It gives you the opportunity to get thousands of dollars worth of free advertising through your local paper. It makes your customers proud of you. You're crazy if you don't enter!"
