About this workshop
This workshop examines the equipment and fertilisers used in fertigation and explains how to prepare fertiliser solutions. The fundamentals of fertigation equipment maintenance are also demonstrated.
As a result of the information provided in this workshop, participants will be able to determine from a range of options the best approach for implementing fertigation in their production nurseries. Among the skills participants will gain are the ability to assess the suitability of various fertilisers for their nursery, prepare a fertiliser solution and maintain a fertigation system.
In addition, participants who complete this session will benefit from discussion of fertiliser and nutrient management and gain familiarity with fertigation equipment.
Workshop outcomes
At the completion of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Review the options for fertigation and determine the best approach for the nursery
- Describe the types of equipment that are available for fertigation
- Examine suitable fertilisers that can be used in nursery fertigation
- Calculate how to prepare a fertiliser solution
- Implement a preventative maintenance program for fertigation equipment
- Calculate the chlorine requirements
- Describe how to flush a fertigation system with a chlorine solution
