Workshop Outline
The workshop includes:
- Establishing a strategy for pest management, including:
- Understanding the options available, especially hygiene and preventative strategies, costs, economic damage and legislation
- Staff training and awareness (who does what)
- Equipment needed
- Using outside specialists and references
- Record keeping
- Decision making:
- Undertaking cost benefit studies and interpreting results
- Effective monitoring and record keeping
- Treatment strategies and economic thresholds
- Implementing an integrated approach to pest management

Who Should Attend?
This module is suitable for decision-makers who are responsible for planning and managing production operations in container nurseries.
These people make the decisions on what management options to implement and when, but generally rely on others to provide timely records and advice on pest outbreaks, monitoring activities and limits to previous treatments. They will be conscious of costs and economic damage.
